Dining at Royal Ha Long Hotel: one restaurant, three bars and the Heritage Flavours series
— Royal Halong Hotel

Dining at Royal Ha Long Hotel spreads across four spaces, each keeping its own rhythm through the day. Here they are in turn, so you know where to go and when.
Phuc Vien Restaurant: Ha Long seafood and an open kitchen
Phuc Vien is the hotel’s main restaurant, on the second floor, seating 250 guests with two VIP rooms for meals that call for more privacy. Its backbone is fresh, live Ha Long seafood. Alongside are Asian dishes such as Peking duck, Can Long tofu and char siu roast pork, Western plates led by beef steak with mustard, pepper or cream sauce, and a list of imported wines.
The open kitchen sits right beside the buffet line, so many dishes are finished in front of you. You can view the menu in advance and reserve a table on 0787 389 018 – 02033 848 777.
Three bars for three moments
- The Piano Bar, in the lobby, seats 40 and serves cocktails and signature drinks to the sound of the piano — right for a glass before or after dinner.
- The Pool Bar, beside the outdoor pool, offers chilled drinks and Asian–European light bites, so there is no need to leave your sun lounger.
- La Terrasse is an open-air bar set in the European-style grounds; at weekends it serves hot tea and afternoon treats in the gentle sun.
The Heritage Flavours series
The Heritage Flavours series brings dishes tied to Ha Long back to the hotel’s menu one at a time. One stop in the series is mantis shrimp noodle soup (bún bề bề) — one of the ten heritage dishes to try in Ha Long.
The water in the bay is shallow, the tide moves constantly and the salinity is moderate, which is why Ha Long mantis shrimp is sweet and firm. Chef Hong keeps the character of this everyday dish intact with white mantis shrimp landed directly and still live, and a clear, gently fragrant broth. Details of the programme and its happy hours are on the Heritage Flavours series — mantis shrimp noodle soup page.
