Two days, one night in Ha Long: a suggested itinerary from Royal Ha Long Hotel

— Royal Halong Hotel

The hotel tower lit up at dusk with the ROYAL HALONG HOTEL sign on its roof, a white entrance wing with an arched doorway to the right and a tree-lined lawn in front

Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the reason most travellers come to Quang Ninh. A two-day, one-night trip feels complete when the place you stay takes care of the rest: meals, somewhere to unwind and a quiet night’s sleep. Royal Ha Long Hotel stands on Ha Long Road in central Bai Chay, close to Bai Chay beach and the Ha Long International Cruise Port.

Day one, afternoon: check in and head for the pool

Check-in is from 14:00. For a view of the bay from your room, choose a 39 m² Deluxe Room facing Ha Long Bay, or the 95 m² Suite with its own bedroom, living room and study. Families travelling together can ask about connecting Premium Rooms, and those who prefer a garden setting will find villas within Royal Villas.

Once your bags are in, you have two options. The indoor pool on the third floor is lit through glass ceiling panels and kept at a temperature close to that of the body, so it is swimmable all year. The outdoor pool at Royal Villas suits the end of the day, when the water catches the city’s sunset. At weekends, La Terrasse in the garden also serves hot tea and afternoon treats.

Day one, evening: seafood at Phuc Vien, cocktails at the Piano Bar

Dinner belongs to Phuc Vien Restaurant on the second floor. The menu centres on fresh Ha Long seafood, alongside Peking duck, Can Long tofu and Western dishes such as beef steak with pepper or mustard sauce. It is worth calling ahead to reserve, especially for groups; booking details are on our Dining page.

After dinner, the Piano Bar in the lobby is the place for a cocktail and the sound of the piano before heading upstairs.

Day two: a morning for the bay

Breakfast is included in the rate for every room category, so the second day begins at the hotel. The rest of the morning is for the bay: a walk along Bai Chay beach, or on to the Ha Long International Cruise Port if you have planned a boat trip on the bay.

Check-out is before 11:00. If you need the room for longer, let reception know in advance so they can check availability and any surcharge.
